Flashed x1900xtx with Rabit 2.1 and..

and well.. it fixed one problem and seemingly caused another.

All I did was save my original bios flash with atiwinflash. Then I edited it with rabit 2.1

the ONLY thing I changed in the bios were the fan speeds, I set it to 100% fan speed for each temperature bracket.

Then I saved it, and programmed it. And it flashed fine.

Now my fan does indeed run at 100% all the time. However ATI Overdrive only reports 2d clocks. And when I start games it doesn't goto 3d mode, or if it does.. ATI Overdrive takes no notice of it. I used atitool also just to see if it detected the 3d clocks but nope on that either.

As it is.. I only have ATI original Cat 6.8 installed. No Atitool.. no extra whatsoever.

My goal in this was to get my fan running at 100% without having to use a 3rd party software. Any idea why ati overdrive isn't making the switch to 3d clocks since I flashed it today?

Thanks in advance!

well i did use atitool, for a long time. but lately I was just sick of the problems it was giving me

first with the imperfect 3d detection that requies I add many .exes to the exception list

and more annoyingly.. everytime I booted up ati tool 0.25 beta 15 automatically switched my clocks to 3d mode ! even if i disabled 3d detection altogether !

latest build just seems way too buggy for my taste.. and I would much rather get this flash thing going. I don't even want to OC with it! Just let Catalyst do its normal thing but with constant 100% fan speed.

It boggles me why ATI still hasn't just intergrated a fan speed option to their CCC.. it's as if they want us to play around with 3rd party software so we can mess up our cards and need to buy new ones ;p

I did the same thing with my x1900gt and am wondering if it is going into 3d clocks. Rivatuner seems to show that it is staying in 2d clocks. Will have to do some benchies and maybe flash back to original bios.

I also did the same with my X1900GT and am not seeing any probs. CCC overdrive seems to be reflecting both sets of clocks just like before, and my 3DMark scores reflect my 3D clocks. Have ya'lls benchmark scores changed?

Ok, set graphics clock to request 641. Got rivatuner working. And ran 3dm06. Scored a 100 points or so higher (whoppee) and rivatuner showed the graphics clock as 641 while in 3d- so guess I was worried about nada.

it now seems that 3d detection does work but not for all games

and there seems to be no way to force 3d detection using only the CCC ?

does anyone have any advice for forcing 3d mode on games that don't trigger it on their own ? So far games that have such problems are Age of Empires 3 and Call of Duty 2. All other games I've tried so far do trigger the overdrive 3d mode on their own.

What I can't figure out, is my card seems to be able to handle a nice overclock. But this makes virtually no difference in my fps at the settings I use in games. Is it because my cpu is an athlon 3700 single core?

actually, OCing rarely gives a noticeable boost...unless we're talking about 100 mhz or more on the GPU and 200 on the mem.

Mine will hit 654/720 w/o artifacts. I've started running 648/711 (which is what overdrive picks) in overdrive. Picks up a couple of hundred points in 3DMark, but I haven't seen big differences in games either. Odd things - overdrive will almost always pick 648 for the GPU, but will often not attempt to boost the mem speed at all. When it does it does it will go up to 711. Also, in ATItool, it won't let me try any mem speeds above 720. Kind of odd...

I experienced this yesterday...I flashed my cards only updating the fan speeds and I got 9000+ points in 3dmark06. Before the flashes I got 11,500+...

I guess it's not shifting into 3d more or something...weird.
Any updates?

I had that same problem back when I used that program. I just flashed it back to my original BIOS and manually oc again.

Switched back to original bios and I got 11385 so that's an issue I hope to be fixed soon.

solved it by forcing 1.45v and 675/1600 all the time :p also 100% fan. 3dmark scores perfect. CCC actually seems snappier now :p
