Flashed with the wrong firmware and now....

It looks like my router is bricked due to being flashed with the wrong firmware. Is it possible to recover it now? Just need a few suggestions before putting the router in the scrap pile. thx.

Collect yourself, and then tell us which make / model router that you're talking about.

Many, though not all, name-brand routers have an emergency "recovery mode" that you can trigger.

I know Asus RT-N12/D1 and AC68U/R do, and Netgear WNR2000v2 does.

Its an asus RT-N56U wireless router. There is 2 versions of the hardware..I flashed for the wrong version with Padavan firmware.

Well surprisingly I managed to unbrick the router using an Asus utility which I already had on my computer!? Using it I reflashed to the latest firmware and its working now. For how long I am not sure as this router has some issue with it already(going back for some time now). Will post back if it goes south again. Thx.

Well after working hard to revive my RT-N56U router, surprisingly easy it turned out, the original problem of this router is still there...it will drop the connection to the modem...sometimes cycling the power works but i still have my D-Link old standby router which works thru thick and thin. But not the speediest router by any measure. just waiting for my newly ordered Ubiquiti router. Hoping for some good things from this router!
