Okay,
I have (had) - MSI 9800 PRO - TD128 ... a graphic card with R360 core (XT core).

The card was already recognized as 9800XT but was running at PRO speeds. It had Hynix 2.8ns memmory I think. Here is an url of the card reviwed: http://www.overclockers.co.nz/ocnz/review.php?id=04vga00r9800promsi00000r9800pro0105

What I did was I closely followed the instructions on this site:
http://www.rojakpot.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=92&pgno=1
and flashed my card to a 9800XT 128mb with Hynix Club3d BIOS.

So, my card has 360core XT, 128 ram hynix and flashing shouldn't have been a problem.

Flashed the video bios in dos, backed up the old bios before doing so, flash went ok. After restart, the screen is blank, the computer does do anything, I'm hearing to see if the disk loads windows but it doesn't, it just sits blank. :(

Did I kill my card :~( ? Can I flash to the old bios? If so how? What did I do wrong? I'm not a newbie, I followed all instructions, it's not a first time I flash a bios...

Help greatly appreciated, thanks all.

You may still be able to resurrect your card. if you have an old PCI video card lying around you can put that into your system and boot up and then re-flash with the old bios that you fortunately backed up

I'm no expert, but if you boot your pc with a PCI video card, you can still flash your AGP card to a proper bios.

You should be asking this question in the Video forum for better responses I think.

I'm sure there are plenty of web sites which explain it as well.

sorry I'm not much more help...

EDIT: As for what you did wrong, well, you most likely used a bios that isn't compatible with the card.

You really don't even need a old PCI card. You can just do a blind flash which is difficult but I'm sure you can find directions somewhere.

Either way I'm not sure why you even flashed the card... You should be able to OC fine with out flashing the card.

When A Flash Goes Wrong

If you see any error messages, do NOT reboot your system! If you reboot, you may see garbage or even nothing on screen! Because, without a working BIOS, your card will not work properly.

Although it is not common if you take precautions, this can happen if the BIOS image you downloaded is corrupted or if the floppy disk is faulty.

What you should do now is flash your old video BIOS back into the Flash ROM. That should restore your graphics card back to normal.

However, if the worst happens and the card fails due to a corrupted BIOS, you will need to use a PCI graphics card to boot up and reflash the dead BIOS.

Just plug in both the PCI and 'faulty' AGP graphics cards into the system. Attach the monitor cable to the PCI graphics card. Then, repeat steps 1 and 3 to reflash the 'faulty' graphics card. You can do so either with the original BIOS image or a new BIOS image.

Why? There ARE advantages to flashing a Pro into an XT . . . read the article linked above if you have any doubts. ;)

Thanks guys
I didn't have PCI card at the momment so I left the card where I bought it and told them what happened. They told me this isn't covered with the guarantee but they'll see what they can do. I hope they fix it so I don't have to go into searching for PCI cards, flashing - reflashing etc.

I'm an idiot, instead of playing games it seems I'm just an ordinary geek that likes to play with the hardware more.

you didn't really read the article very well . . .. . .

. . . i'd try to get the card back and get a cheap PCI card . . . they are dirt-cheap (i have an old 8MB PCI card just for emergencies). ;)

The flashmod increases only your 3dmark03 scores, by altering the rendering in Game Two. Besides this 300 mark increase (due to cheating), the mod improves nothing. I've tested it myself.
