Life is good.

This will last me till the SLI boards are out in force..

went from a Retail ATI 9800 pro 128mb to a 9800 XT with a bios flash on the card..

Now I am running as a 9800xt

nice man...

have you done any 3dmarks to see if your scores are higher?

edit: oh btw, is it possible to flash a 9600xt to anything higher? That's what I have right now, ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb.

Any threads you can refer to me to?

I haven't been on the HW forums lately.

I'd like to try this myself.

What's the advantage to running the xt firmware? Is there any such flash for any other cards?

I have a 9800 pro. What does changing the bios to a 9800 xt do for you?

What's difference between that and overclocking 9800pro. I overclocked mine to 420/360. if I flash it, will it be even better?

Hmm I wonder if that will work on my video card.

Flashed from

9800 non-PRo (Dell Card)---->9800 Pro----->9800 XT ?

Well it would be one less thing on startup.
and one less registry..
I would much rather overclock via hardware level then software level any day.

Mine is fantastic running great.

I had to try 3 differant bios files before I made out ok.
first few gave me graphic artifacts
Had to get a bios to match my RAM on the card.
I have Hynix ram not samsung

From what I understand.
It will work on all brands..
If not its easy to correct anything that goes wrong. By making a backup bios file.

Nahh.. Not that big of a deal..

Follow steps to backup your bios..

make a floppy to auto restore original.
you then have almost no chance of f****ing up the card...

Is it? I know it could be done, but seems as if I heard some horror stories of people who tried this, but weren't able to go back.

If so, I take back my previous statement :). I just hate to see a bunch of OT commoners who may not know what they're doing mess anything up in their system because it worked for you. Good luck though :D.
