obvious things to occur to me:

1: disable alarm
2:flash bios back to previous version from 25 to 24
3:reinstall or try upgrade to breezy to see if it fixes it.(does upgrade retain all preferences?)
4😱pen to other ideas

Temps show fine in bios and in windows

well reinstalling ubuntu did not help both 32bit and 64bit same thing.
On the 64 bit I got about 85% loaded and got a kernel panic message and alarm was going off so killed installation.

oh well just flashed back to previous bios version to fix things..hate going backwards seems counterproductive...so as long as I was at it upgraded to Breezy Badger🙂
