Flashcom in bankruptcy?

According to Covad, Flashcom has filed for bankruptcy protection. If you try and use the Covad safety net service, you get the following message:

Flashcom, Inc. is now the subject of federal bankruptcy court proceedings. At this time, Covad's policy towards ISPs in bankruptcy is to not switch their customers to other ISPs without the approval of the bankruptcy court or the written consent of the ISP itself. Upon approval, Covad can offer a convenient DSL service transfer option that will require no additional up-front fees.

Flashcom cuts workforce by 30 percent

Flashcom has cut an estimated 105 workers (30% of its workforce) in hopes to cut costs

I live next to their central headquarters here in Huntington Beach, California. To think I even tried to order DSL from them, but then it took too long (4 weeks) to get it setup, so I canceled, and got my wonderful 250KB/50KB Road Runner 😉
