flash videos (youtube) ignores OC presets

I have an issue with flash videos, like on youtube, of switching from idle to 3d mode. It bothers me because i watch a lot of youtube videos and while the video is open in firefox, it does not apply overclocking profiles while playing games. i have both underclocking profiles for old games to save power and overclocking profiles for demaning games. It sounds confusing, so i will paste 2 screenshots to show exactly the problem. First screenshot is while watching a 1080p video on youtube normally:

There is a problem already, as the memory clock jumps from 300mhz on idle to 1000mhz, and youtube doesn't need it, it is at 20% gpu usage in the worse case. GPU uses more power that is wasted with a higher mem speed, but i will show you now the bigger issue which is when i play any game:

Overclocking profiles don't apply while there is an youtube video in the background. It doesn't matter if it is at 240p and on pause, the clock and memory speed are stuck on default values, 790/1000. So if i want to use any of the custom profiles, either overclocking or downclocking, i have to close all youtube videos. That is a problem, because i need to close all the video tabs each time i play a game. Also sometimes there are flash videos that i forget that i played then on a website other than youtube, so then i have to hunt for the tab that has a flash video open, and if i have 50 tabs open, you can imagine the issue.

I just want the video card to ignore that youtube is playing, or if not, to at least switch to the correct OC profile when i play a game, while i have a flash video open in the browser.

To fix the YouTube issue you just have to right click on the video, click "settings", and uncheck the "enable hardware acceleration" box.

Your performance in games will go down when flash videos are open in the background. You have to close all flash videos while gaming, unless- again - you are willing to accept a performance loss.

I haven't tried disabling hardware acceleration, that may work. I know that otherwise flash will cause your GPU to operate at 2d clocks or less than 100% usage, it has been this way for years. I really have no idea why you would want flash open in the background anyway.

Thanks for the help. It was a very simple fix, which i tried to fix the hard way, by trying various profiles in msi afterburner, by doing searches on search engines like "video card not switching to idle in youtube"

I didn't notice a significant performance decrease while playing flash videos while gaming. i either have them on pause, or playing some music where i set the quality to 240p. Like i said, it was a pain to close all tabs with videos while in games, i switch back and forth between various activities frequently.

Should be left on by default.

Maybe that will fix your odd problem.

If your on a ATI/AMD card then blame the intern programmers. jk jk.

Would be nice to go to userCP and fill in your sig with your rig.

If I overclock with Afterburner, as opposed to through the drivers directly, it will keep the clocks at max if a 3D program needs it. I think it was with the unofficial overclocking mode, but I can't recall right now.
