The Golden Rule is: If you're not having any problems with it, leave it alone. I know this.

However :)D) heck, we flash mobo BIOS' whenever (usually) a newer bios comes out.

I have an LSI Logic U160 single-channel card. LSI has a newer BIOS out there for it. I am wondering if I should flash it? It's not giving me any probs...that I can tell, anyway.

Thoughts?

I would only do it if the software drivers are giving you problems or it wont ID your drives correctly.. IE a U160 drive comes up as unknown or U80. I know my Adaptec 29160 bios is at least a year old and runs like crap in XP unless you use the latest drivers at the Adaptec site for XP. My ATTO raid card is dual bios.. it uses a special bios update with each driver update when using as a raid controller or you can use it as a standard dual channel SCSI controller using the LSI drivers. If you dont use updated LSI drivers when using it as a standard SCSI controller it will run like a crappy old hobble legged dog.

I would see what the bios update supposedly improves on, and compatiblity issues with your motherboard. That is often the reason the update the bios as well aa to recognise later generation drives.

Thanks, Mastertech01. :)

I've only had the adapter in for a few days. So far, it seems to be fine. I know this is an older device...but it does correctly recognize the drive...model number and all.

So, I guess the answer is "no" then, right? Thanks very much.
