It's because it was being used to send out malware by a hacker group:

Well it is kind of half killed. Pretty sure Chrome either is moving or has moved to a whitelist for sites which can use Flash. Pretty much everything now defaults to html5 and Chrome enforces this. I believe Firefox have a similar plan.
