my computer makes the normal "sound" when I plug my flash drive in but I can not see it. I tried it in another system same thing.....I believe there is nothing wrong with drive. did my computer change a setting in the drive? other drives work fine. what do I do?

confused,
Ron

If you get the audiosignal that the drive is recognized, but cannot see it, you might want to check Admin Tools/Disk Management in Control, Panel to make sure it has a distinct drive letter assigned.

I've had that happen a number of times. Some flash drives are prone to it--especially when they are getting ready to die. Sometimes "auto play" settings are the cause. Some security programs change them. Doing what corkyg said is important.

If corkyg's advise does not help look at event viewer - admin. events. I had a Sandisk Cruiser that showed the following for months:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk2\DR2. Eventually I ran into the same issue as you (issues on 2 systems) and had to toss it. (This is why I always backup my flash drives).
