'k, so i posted this a few days ago, but based on feedback and research, my requirements have changed. in order of importance:

0) inexpensive. the less it costs, the less it will hurt to replace it when i loose/break it.
1) durable. a lot of drives seem to be make of flimsy plastic or easily dented/scratched metal. i want a drive that, when i accidentally drop it on the driveway, then kick it when trying to pick it up (think chevy chase here), we just keep right on trucking.
2) cap that stays put. this seems to be a problem with a lot of drives. if the cap won't stay put it's not going to be very durable.
3) thin. it's got to be able to fit in a stacked usb port without blocking the other port.
4) fast. my last drive was a sandisk micro. it was tool small and so i lost it, but i loved the rubberized cover (see 1/2). however, it was dog slow. surely a faster drive is available.

so far the best device that meets these all that i can see is the corsair voyager, however, i'm worried that it may be too fat to work with another device in a stacked port configuration. anybody have any experience with it, or other recommendations?

thanks,

joe

sandisk cruzer, they are very reliable.

i don't care if they are slow but to me, they are error-free.

edit: you could try victornix that comes with swiss army knife but it gave me problems sometimes. had to reformat three times since the purchase.

That doesn't mean anything. The transfer speeds still vary wildly between flash devices.
