Flash Drive, HELP

Ok, it's time to get a flash drive. But wait, there are like billions of models! Can someone reccomend me a good flash drive(Not U3 BTW)? Keep it under $75-$100 though.

What size? You should be able to get a nice 4GB drive for that price.

A few months ago when I got my sysadmin job I bought a Transcend 2GB drive and a Corsair 2GB drive (the one with the rubber coating that's durable and water resistant). It was a nice drive for sure but I ended up keeping the Transcend because it has a significantly faster transfer rate. The Corsair was definitely felt more durable, though, so it's sort of a trade-off.

If I were buying one now, I wouldn't worry so much about name brands. I'd find a good deal on a 4GB drive whether it be from Corsair, SanDisk, Lexar, whatever...they all get the job done. I really like the way those Corsair drives are made with the rubberized coating but they aren't the fastest drives on the market...

Here is the 4GB Corsair flash Voyager drive for $89:

Like I said, I had the 2GB model. It's a very well made drive but as you can see from the reviews, some people besides myself have noticed that other drives are faster.

Just get any brand in the capacity you want at a price you like (check deal sites like Hot Deals here and GottaDeal).

The ones with a pop-off cap are slightly more reliable than sliding/flipping/autobot ones (no moving parts) but I've used a sliding Kingmax cheapie for over a year without any problems.

I saw that one, but people said the rubber got in the way, is that true? Also, some reviews said the USB plug itself came off!

I never had any trouble with the rubber getting in the way...actually I never had any trouble with the drive period except for one file transfer that errored out, but it might not have been the drive's fault. It was actually a pretty nice drive. 🙂
