Flash CS3 UIScrollBar Component

... and make one of his own.

he uses both platforms. i'm not sure what kind of
systems he has at home.

the UIScrollBar component just does not work. if you have a
Flash file with text embedded, not just images of text but a
text area you can right-click in, copy text from etc., that kind
of text area. it plays when you're viewing the *.swf inside
Flash, but not when it's sitting on a web browser.

in this case i'm using Firefox 2.0.0.5, to view the web page
with the FLash file embedded in it. i'm sure he double-
checked me when i said it didn't scroll. he uses Firefox also,
not sure which edition.

has anybody else had experience with this, on a Mac ?

the answer lies in the *.fla file on his computer, i never had the *.fla file that
made the *.swf with the non-working scroll bar. at a diplomatic time, i'll
ask him if i can look at a copy of his 04.30-dated *.fla file.

Yea, there's not much troubleshooting you can do if you don't have access to the FLA, unfortunately.

No offense to your professor, but if it isn't working, he made a mistake.. 🙂 As much as it's hard to admit that you messed something up.. ActionScript in general is VERY prone to bugs, so it's not like he's admitting he doesn't know what he's doing. More than likely it's one string of code that he's having issues with. Maybe there's a conflict with the ScrollBar component and another element in his design. Who knows..

If you're worried about telling him, then just don't worry about it. No need to rial up his feathers if it's really a non issue.

EDIT: if you have a web address, you could PM me and I'll let you know if it works on my system.
