Flash bios Fx 5900 ultra to FX 5950 ultra

Has anyone tried to flash their Fx 5900 ultra bios to an Fx 5950 ultra? If so what was your experience? 🙂

i dont see why youd bother, shouldnt you be able to just oc it that much if anything? or does the 5950 bios use some different voltages than the 5900ultra?

Again somebody who doesn't mind killing his GFX for 0,1fps..... If you break it at least don't RMA ok?

No doubt. The difference in perfomance between these two card would be imperceptible, yet it's sad to think how many people are foolish enough to do this.

isn't a 5950 stock at 475/950 or something like that? i just got a 5900 ultra and used coolbits to set it at 505/956. Simple and easy and now above 5950 stock. why flash anything and risk the hardware? you got a pretty dang good card there.

i still don't understand why people are freaking out about this. the maximum OC i could get on my card without the flash was 449, and that was practically killing the card with heat. now that i have the flash on it, i can go to 480 with barely a dent in the heat, and MUCH faster gameplay. 🙂

By much faster do you mean 4-5 fps in demanding apps?

The big reason people are doing this is because it changes the temperature threshold that the card downclocks itself. The 5950 doesn't do this until it hits like 5C more than the 5900. This is silly because for example, my 5900 has the same huge HSF as the 5950, and will clock up to like 460/920 from 400/850 without any artifacts.

ut2k4 is demanding, no? 🙂

basically, i am satisfied enough with my perfmormance and overclock and stability that i'm not going back to the 5900NU bios.
