** IMPORTANT: Flash Player 10.1 Beta users, you must uninstall previous versions of Flash Player prior to installation. **

Video hardware acceleration support

Flash Player 10.1 supports hardware decoding of H.264 video on Windows platforms when running with supported hardware and drivers. For the latest information on supported drivers and GPUs, visit the following vendor sites:

1. AMD/ATI Hardware video decoding of H.264 content in Flash Player 10.1 is supported on AMD/ATI products with UVD2 with the ATI Catalyst™ Software Suite, starting with version 9.11 for the ATI Radeon™ family of products, and driver release 8.68 for the ATI FirePro™ family of products. Family Product Radeon Radeon HD 4xxx (and higher) Mobility Radeon Mobility Radeon HD 4xxx series (and higher) Integrated/Motherboard Radeon HD 3xxx (and higher) FirePro FirePro V3750, FirePro V7750, FirePro V8700, and FirePro V8750 (and later)

For the latest AMD/ATI drivers, see http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx. For some mobile and notebook systems, drivers may only be available from the OEM directly. Notebook drivers are not available from the AMD website.

2. Broadcom Hardware video decoding of H.264 content in Flash Player 10.1 is supported on the Broadcom BCM70012 as well as the BCM70015 video decoding chipset, found in systems with Broadcom Crystal HD Enhanced Video Accelerator hardware. Driver support is available at http://www.broadcom.com/support/crystal_hd.

Most netbooks with ship with a Broadcom chip also use integrated Intel video chip. An Aero windows theme must be in use for optimal fullscreen performance on such devices.

3. Intel Hardware video decoding of H.264 content in Flash Player 10.1 is supported on Intel® 4 Series Chipset family and the all New 2010 Intel® Core™ Processor Family with Intel® HD Graphics starting with the graphics driver version 15.16.5.2021(8.15.10.2021) for 32/64-bit Windows Vista and Windows 7.

For the Atom/Intel® GMA 500 chipset, hardware decode is supported starting with the graphics driver version 5.2.1.2020 (8.14.10.2020) for 32-bit Windows® 7. For the GMA500, we recommend using an Aero windows theme. Performance is significantly improved for fullscreen playback with Aero-enabled Windows environments. The drivers are available at http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx.

Automatically detect the latest driver for your system by using this link: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm.

To determine if you have a supported Intel platform listed above: Right-click on Desktop -> Personalize -> Display -> Change Display Settings- Advanced Settings. The Adapter Type should be Intel GMA500, Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family, or Intel® HD Graphics

4. NVIDIA Adobe Flash Player 10.1 offers GPU-acceleration for NVIDIA ION and supported NVIDIA GeForce and Quadro-powered PCs. The latest drivers are available at http://www.nvidia.com/drivers, and the latest list of supported GPUs is available at http://www.nvidia.com/object/gpus_supporting_adobeflash.html.

This is just LOL. A GMA500 is supported... A HD3450 is not... Neither a HD3650 nor a HD38xx class card. Boo AMD!

Meanwhile, this stuff will run fine on any 8-series card and up (so a pos 8400GS too - not so pos after all, eh?). Every single one. And those things came out like a year earlier...

I wonder how well it actually works on those cards though. In the other thread the guy who used 9.11 said his card was getting like 10fps witih tearing on 1080p content so I'm guessing it's going to run like shit on an integrated or 8400GS as well.
Also not all of the 8000 series cards are listed as NV did make an 8300GS and GT which is missing from their list.

Well, at least for supported video cards the difference is quite noticeable. I've tested assorted mix of 720p/1080p clips @YouTube, and the playback is much smoother.

Bleh, I get 2 duplicate videos squished into the normal frame when I enable hardware acceleration.

Well I noticed an improvement watching Hulu on an older system. P4 3.0GHZ, 1.3gigs of ram, and a ATI HD 4670 1gig.

Ugh, any way to download it without using the retarded Adobe download manager? I can't use it to download on my current connection (it's either blocked or Adobe won't use the proxy)

I never could get it to properly install in FF with Adobe download manger so I downloaded the exe using Opera and it installed just fine for Opera/FF. make you sure you run the Flash uninstaller first though.

GMA500 only on Win7. Funny too because running win7 in a z-based atom is probably not the best idea. I hav ea gma500 on my netbook but xp...

GMA500 on WinXP with acceleration = BSOD most likely. From personal experience, and reading forums.

My guess is they just didin't work hard enough on optimizing it. And it's working fine on my HD4350 - a card that is hardly more powerful than a HD3450 or a 8400GS.

Does anyone have a list what exactly was changed between UVD, UVD+, UVD2 Lite and UVD2?
