They're amazing in winter. There's no feeling cold when you first get into bed, no cold spot, they always feel warm.

Cold sheets are the best thing about getting into bed. Well, if you're only intending on sleeping anyway...

Another vote for flannel sheets; I'm fine in winter with just the flannel, anything additional and I'll get hot and throw it off.

I've never done anything special other than wash and dry and we're using sets that we bought 10+ years ago.

Those of you that talk about it being cold in the winter, how so? I keep the climate control around 70 all year so it's no colder during the winter than it is during the summer. I can't stand the way flannel feels so I'll stick with my 600tc cotton.
That's nice. A lot of us would prefer not to burn money and fossil fuels keeping the house overly warm at night. My house is 64 during awake hours, and 58 at night.

On topic:

Flannel sheets are good, I've found that fleece sheets are even better, since they don't pill up as bad as the flannels. But I've only had the fleece for one season, so it's limited data.

The best though is flannel/fleece sheets and an electric mattress pad. I've had electric blankets, but always had problems with them sliding off at night, or my foot tangling in cords. Electric mattress pad, none of that, and never a problem with a cold spot, everything is warm. Turn that on a little before going to bed and it's heaven when I get in.

Other advantage to the electric mattress pad; since it's under the sheets we didn't need to clean it as often, and cleaning always seems to be when electric blankets break.

I use them year round. I enjoy the warm feeling. I wash them like normal sheets, on hot, and dry hot. Mine have never shrank.

I don't like flannel sheets, never have. I sleep in a t-shirt and the material gets "stuck" on the flannel. Makes it difficult to turn over without having to adjust the shirt.
I'd rather use my electric mattress pad to keep warm on these cold winter nights.

I don't sleep in anything.
