I have an IBM R51 laptop and cannot get a solid VPN connection with my Linksys wifi router. I have the encryption turned on with this access point. If I use an unencrypted access point (or a wired connection) there are no problems. I am using the built in VPN solution in XP.

what encryption do you use? I usually only do 802.11B/G stuff, and I just switched to a WPA Pre-shared key b/c it is easier (no hexadecimal) and its verification key sutff is encrypted 48-bit rather then the WEP 24-bit.

I'm a bit confused. Are you attempting to access another location via VPN through your router (enable VPN passthrough)? Or are you trying to VPN into the router (most consumer routers don't support this)?

VPN through the router to a corporate network. What confuses me is with the 128 bit encryption off it works fine on multiple routers.
