I finally got around to putting together my HTPC box (most of the parts had been ordered/purchased since Jan. 05), and now I see that it's less than stable.
For example, when I'm installing MCE, my keyboard (USB Dell branded MS Natural Pro) usually loses USB connectivity. When in MCE, I sometimes get "system has recovered from a serious error" and other similar error messages. All I've got installed is MCE, drivers, and Norton Antivirus. I don't even have this thing connected to the internet yet.
Anyway, I purchased some of the parts from various online forums' FS/FT areas, and others from various online vendors. I am beginning to wonder if some of the parts I bought were slightly less than stable. Or if said parts are just being picky about hardware combinations. Either way, the parts aren't working as I would like them to.
All I can think of to test system stability is running Prime95 or some similar piece of software for a few hours. Is there anything else I could try? It'd be nice to know if particular USB ports will be prone to connectivity issues, my keyboard is on its way out, my memory is less than stable, or my motherboard is just a royal POS.
