Flaky Switch-user and problems

I'm running Windows XP Pro, and its been working fine for the past month, except recently, its been freezing up after I press Winkey + L for fast user switching ... I don't really use it for fast user switching, just to lock out other people from using my computer. It started after I installed the Driver demo, and it froze when I tried to load the game. I did a hard restart, and then changed the settings. This time, Driver loaded, but then it froze as I tried to exit.
And then from that point on, if I use fast user switching, I come back to find a blank light blue screen with the hour glass. I can't do anything .. control-alt-del doesn't work ... I even tried unplugging my UPS connection so that it might start a shutdown and then I could properly shutdown instead of pressign the power button.
Sadly, my lame Gateway case doesn't have a restart button.. i have to turn the thing off and back off in the event of a freeze...
one of the weird things is.. whenever it gets stuff after a fast-user switch ..its not that my computer is frozen .. i can still access my ftp from another computer .. and my AIM is still connected .. its just that i cant' get back to the login screen...

i'm completely patched ... and just did a full virus scan. .. anyone have this problem!? thanks!

I don't know the answer, but you might try re-installing the video drivers.

thanks, didn't think of that ...
you reminded me .. the last time it crashed .. i got a stop error with the file nv4.dll or something like that .. which is the nvidia display driver ...
i reinstalled .. and things look okay right now..

Try the newest drivers from nvidia.

Some people also say that if you turn off write combining it will stop the error in the nv4.dll too.
