OK, this is wacky: I purchased an nVidia GF2MX400 64MEG "clone card" for dirt cheap. I'm pretty happy with it, but something odd is going on. I have 2 removable drives on my system and they are both running Win 2000 Pro. I've installed the drivers and all went well. However, when I switch drives, the system will boot to the screen with the Win 2000 logo and the blue status bar. At the point where the screen would normally switch to the solid color desktop, my monitor suddenly clicks to what appears to be "standby mode" i.e. I am not getting any video signal from the card to the monitor. I have to boot to safe mode, which uses the generic VGA driver, and lets me go into the monitor settings. I don't change anything, just hit ok and reboot. Then it's ok (most of the time) and boots normally. However, if I then swap to the other drive, the whole problem starts again, only now the drive that used to boot fine, exhibits the same issue as the other. It's as if the problem flip-flops from drive to drive.
I know this may be confusing, but has anyone had this happen with a similar system?
I'm running a PII 400, and my monitor is a clone 17" "Delta DC770" one.
Thanks
EDIT: Sorry Mods, I should have posted this in the Tech Supt thread...my bad.
