I was trying to flash the newest bios to my bh6 and I followed the directions as best as I could from the Abit web site(they were awful). I was flashing the bios and the completion bar went all the way to the end without any errors and then nothing happened. It didn't say it was complete or anything. I thought well maybe since the flashing program was so basic and being in dos that maybe it wasn't supposed to say complete...meybe it was simply done. Well I now have a feeling the flashing didn't work correctly. After I flashed it I couldn't do anything else but press the reset button...nothing else worked. Before I did that I noticed the warning message at the bottom of teh screen that said not to turn off or reset the computer. But since I couldn't do anything else and reseting was the next step according to the directions I did it anyway. Well when I reset nothing happens. The computer starts up and I can start to hear it click away...but there is no visual and Nothing goes anywhere...just a blank screen. I have a feeling I'm in a LOT of trouble aand I'm not sure what to do. I switched the CMOS jumper to try and put it back to default...and that didn't do anything. Anybody have any ideas?

Try this, good luck.

Please take the following actions to solve problems caused by power shortage or other non-preventable malfunctions during BIOS updating that lead to update failure. First, it is strongly suggested that you format a disk that can boot your computer before you update your BIOS. If the above mentioned problem occurs during a BIOS update you will be able to use this disk to automatically execute a BIOS updating. The content of the disk should be the following:
(1) Startup system files (COMMAND.COM, MSDOS.SYS, IO.SYS ...)
(2) AWDFLSH.EXE
(3) The NEWBIOS file which can be download from
ABIT web site.
(4) AUTOEXEC.BAT, which has the following content:
A:\AWDFLASH NEWBIOS /PY /SN /CC /CD
For example, to update the BH6 BIOS version to GY (BH6_GY.BIN), you need to type:
A:\AWDFLASH BH6_GY.BIN /PY /SN /CC /CD
3. If you try to flash a version of BIOS that is for the incorrect motherboard model the following message will appear:
"The program file's part number does not match with your system!"
Explanation of parameter names:
/CC: Clears CMOS data
/CP: Clears PnP data
/CD: Clears DMI data

(EDIT)Man, you guys are fast today. I was composing this message, and see when I sent it that two responses had already been posted. Oh well, at least we're on the same track <g>!(EDIT)

Lawrence, it sounds like you ran into a flash problem. The following is from Abit's site, and details how to set up a bootable floppy w/ the necessary files to attempt a fix. Obviously, this requires that you have access to a working computer.

From Abit's website:

If a problem occurs during a BIOS update you will be able to use this
disk to automatically execute a BIOS updating. The content of the disk should be the following:
(1) Startup system files (COMMAND.COM, MSDOS.SYS, IO.SYS ...)
(2) AWDFLSH.EXE
(3) The NEWBIOS file which can be download from ABIT web site.
==============================

Lawrence, unless you have an old ISA video card you can slap in your machine you won't see anything on the screen when you reboot w/ the floppy, which contains the autoexec.bat file w/ the awdflash line. What you will see is floppy light activity. When the floppy light is inactive for a period of time (give it three or four minutes at a minimum) you can power down the system and remove the floppy. Then power it back up, and w/ any luck yo'll be able to get back into your system. Good luck!

I have sort of the same problem with a TXPro motherboard by 'Matsonic' I think... I attempted a flash, and now I've got nothing. Power button -> nothing happens. I tried clearing CMOS and everything I could think of, and I got nowhere. So I bought the VA-503+.. but I still ahve the txpro lying around downstairs with a PR200 in it.

If I could get this fixed... that would be good, I would have a step up from my P83 till I get something better.
