Flagship phones' HDMI resolution

How much can current phones output?
I've seen posts confirming 1080p, but how about 1440p, 1600p or even quad HD?

Where to even get the data? I went to htc (htc one), samsung (SGS 4), sony (xperia z) and google (doesn't even list HDMI option) and none of them listed anything further than MHL --> HDMI connectivity. No HDMI version at least, let alone the actual resolutions supported.

A 1080p phone will do a 1080p mirror of the screen.

Yes it does mirror the 1600p. You can find many threads of people being upset with black bars after that is scaled down to 1080p.

Android's screen-mirroring definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

I feel like this is being worked on in conjunction with the Chromecast.

Over Slimport (what I have) or MHL, I couldn't say.

No, this is Android. Much like some of Google's other half-baked advanced features (like USB OTG) users have stepped in:

Oh course you will need root, and it doesn't work on some devices.

Wow, seems exactly what I need. Need to see if it works with resolutions higher than what phone has (for HDMI mode), but otherwise this looks like just the thing
