Any program that can be a front end for LAME will work.

I use Foobar2000 because it's my music player but anything off this list will work the best.

I suggest you use the -V0 setting because it saves space over 320 and is VBR.

Also if you are downloading a precompiled LAME I suggest you use rarewares.

I used a program called LameXP to recode a big bunch of MP3 files. It worked pretty well, supports multicore, is free, and will convert FLACs.

has a easy to use frontend, can convert from CD, or audio files into FLAC MP3 WAV ect.

Also has ability to auto fill out metadata and file names which is handy when ripping CD
