PENSACOLA, Fla. - A teenager who sued the city after claiming a police officer forced her to do jumping jacks while topless has reached a $35,000 settlement, officials said.

The City Council unanimously approved the settlement Thursday, City Manager Tom Bonfield said.

Officer Shawn Patrick Shields found the girl, then 16, and a 19-year-old man together in a parked car in April 2003. Shields ordered the two teens out of the car, then told them he could arrest them for lewd and lascivious behavior, authorities said.

The girl told investigators that Shields told her to perform five topless jumping jacks, which she said she did as he shone his flashlight on her.

Both teenagers passed polygraph tests.

Shields was later fired and pleaded no contest to extortion. He was placed on probation for two years in December 2003 and ordered to write a letter of apology to the girl.

The name of the girl's attorney was not immediately known.

He's in Florida, he could have gone to the beach over Spring Break with a video camera and said he was from Girls Gone Wild.

isn't the guy fromg girls gone wild in a sh*t load of trouble noww

I dont see that girl as a victim at all. (Not that the cop was justified.)

So many more girls start younger and do much worse things for a lot less money.
All that really happend to her was she got embaressed in front of a relatively small audience.

She made a killing at 35 grand.

You don't think being forced to do jumping jacks in front of a stranger who has a gun is considered being a victim?

The cop is lucky the 19yr old was a pussy.

The officer was more than being an asshole. Misuse of power. Giving the police a bad name. He got off light if all that happens is losing his job and $35k.

The officer got off very very light... I think he should do some jail time. Misuse/abuse of official power is extremely serious in my mind, it leads to mistrust of officers and thus hurts all of society. He didn't have to pay anything either, the city had to pony up the cash. That cop should be doing jailtime doing naked jumping jacks in front of his fellow prisoners......

They don't say what happened to the 19 yr old, he should be in prison for statutory rape for at least 30 years.
