FL and New Orleans differences?

We have one major Hurricane hit New Orleans recently and it gets extra attention why? I've not a racist bone in my body but damn! FL has been hit many times more than LA and we don't whine about it! And when we do give them help, they destroy our equipment and call us crackers!

All they want is a new home or money when they had nothing or close to nothing to begin with. Free ride is what it's called here in the USA! ................ Here's another................ WELFARE! Put the two together you get what mostly got hit in LA!

I have friends that went there with thier personal dumptrucks & dozers on thier own time, tried to help and thier equipment got demolished by the INGRATES!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's gratitude!
I'm tired of you people that close your eyes or will not say what you mean. Hey, In FL we don't complain!................ Well Miami is mostly ILLEGAL, they're allowed to complain **LMAO**

1) NO is below sea level, Florida, for the most part, isn't. Thus when it rains, there's literally nowhere for the rainwater to drain out in NO, whereas in Florida, it'd just go to the sea.

2) FEMA already grants money and property reimbursements for homes lost to Hurricane damage. The cap is $250,000. It's nothing new, everyone who has been affected by any Hurricane is eligible.

The only other Category 5 storm to hit the USA recently was Andrew, and it did make a lot of headlines.

3) Most of the complaints for NO is the way it was handled. National Guards didn't arrive until close to a week after the storm hit. In Florida, President Bush Sr. sent in National Guardsman before Hurrican Andrew, another category 5 storm. In hindsight, it was a pre-campaign move to shore up popular support (election was just months away).

There is alot more to it than you think. On the news they focus on the "welfare society" that you mention, because it is more entertaining. This is sad but true. There is also a great number of the "working class" that was affected by this and never gets mentioned. This is probably because they picked back up and continued just like they did before the storm, refusing to suck on the government's tit. There are some real amazing people that have coped with this situation exceptionally well.
