Ok guys I'm currently running a Athlon 64 3000+ you guessed it....Winchester. Well, I'm fixing to buy some new ram and I can't decide on the Patriot 512x2 (http://www.newegg.com/app/View...20-220-006&depa=1) or 2 sticks of Patriot 1gb (http://www.newegg.com/app/View...20-220-030&depa=1). I mean yeah the two sticks of 1gb is more but will they run as fast as the 1gb (512x2) and will they let me overclock as much?. Plus if I buy 2 sticks of 1gb I still have 2 slots free with future room for 2 more gb sticks on my MSI Plat.2 What are the pros and cons to these choices?

**Edit**
I went ahead and bought OCZ Plat. Rev 2. Now my question is...6 months from now if I want to add another pair of OCZ, will it screw up my overclock?

They have the same ratings which means that overclocking should technically be the same. However, each memory stick is different. Also be aware that Windows XP sometimes acts wierd when 1 gb sticks are added.

BUt..Also be aware if you get 2gb in 512mb module you likely wont be able to oc as far and I hear maybe have to run 2t on timings which is a performance hit...How much I actually don't know...Haven't tried it...
