Forward ports 6881-6889 to your IP.

That normally clears up most of it. :)

If you post what router you have, somebody will probably be able to give you more detailed instructions on how to do it.

*edit*

Seems they may have changed that in the newest one.

Here's the Wiki on it. Everything you wanted to know and more.

In this case it's unlikely you'll be able to resolve your problem. If you really want to check, you can run ipconfig from the command prompt and see if you have a local address or a real internet address. If you have a local address then that means there's a router for the apartment and you don't have access to it.

I'm guessing the same thing. Sounds like the the apartment complex or whatever is supplying the internet access, and you won't be able to edit anything on their router. :(

Ok, I did IP config. What should I look for? It's giving me an IP address.

If your address falls in any of these 3 ranges, then you have a private address. If your address is private then you've got a router between you and the internet and the only way you'll get a port forwarded to your computer will be to contact whomever is in charge of the router.

10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255 (10/8 prefix)
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255 (172.16/12 prefix)
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255 (192.168/16 prefix)

Is this related to the WAN disconnected from 192.168.1.100 (?) messages I get? 101 is neither the IP of my router or me, which is the interesting part. In fact, I can't even ping it.

I edited the message. I moved recently. It might just be easier to repost this.

Download the manual for your router. Figure out how to log into the administration console and forward the appropriate ports to your local PC.

I have cable, does that mean I can't do this? Looks like I need to go static before I can forward.

Static IP has nothing to do with it. Just forward the ports that the BT uses and you're set. That's all.

Ok done, but it wouldn't let me enter the info unless I picked the last part of the IP. I have 4 computers on that router, how do I know what IP to forward it to?

Configure the router so that it forwards the whole range of ip that it supports. 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.255 or something like that, depending on your router configurations.

1. Static IP, yes you will need to assign a static IP to the computer you wish to recieve a forwarded port. Here's link for how to assign a static IP.

http://portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm

I checked the manual and the router by default is set to 192.168.2.1.

The default IP Address Pool that it hands out to computers is 192.168.2.100 - 192.168.2.199.

You can check these values by logging into your router and clicking LAN.

Please check these values are correct now.

If the values I listed are the same in your router, click the link above and then click your operating system and follow the directions. I want you to assign your Azureus computer a static IP address of 192.168.2.99.

2. Forword your Azureus ports to 192.168.2.99.

Follow this link and forword the ports to 192.168.2.99.

http://portforward.com/english/routers/..._forwarding/SMC/2804WBRP-G/Azureus.htm

After this you should be good to go. If not, please make sure you're very specific about the error you encountered.
