fixing instability due to voltage

I have:
p3-700 @ 933 on a CUSL2 with a stick of Corsair and a stick of Infineon (128 each)

The only time it hangs is when I play Unreal Tournament (it'll hang after a few min)... I'm stable at 1.75 but not at 1.70

I've tried clocking my system down to 700 and used the 133/100/100 option to check the memory to make sure it wasn't the CPU or RAM getting in the way...

My golden orb cooling seems fine: 29C at idle and 43C is the absolute max loaded...

At 1.70 my system is completely stable for everything but that game so I don't want to always run at 1.75 if I don't need to... Is there any easy fix for this voltage issue? Should I mess w/ the I/O voltage?

sure you can play with the i/o voltage, either way could help but i have never seen results from going up or down on it so i cant say it will do anything. personal i would just leave it at 1.75 and be happy.

i've always wondered why u could change it? does it have a primary use?

the reason i dont want to keep it at 1.75 is because when i set it to that it usually runs around 1.79 according Asus PC Probe...

1.70 runs close to 1.75

so what, stability is the issue.

1.75 reading 1.79 isn't going to hurt anything, in fact, if you run it at that voltage for a month or so and get rid of the Gorg/Orb, err the POS, and put on some real good cooling..............

anyway, you are running the processor at way above its rated speed and despite the posts to the contrary, most of these 700's need more 'juice' to obtain the 933 stable. there are some lucky few that can run at or below the rated vre, but for the most part you have to jack it a bit.

my PIII 700 needs 1.80 to run the 933, it will run with less but will eventually give me a error, thjus the 1.80.

just some advise, you don't have to follow it, but if you REALLY want STABILITY...............

actually i ran it at 1.75 all of last semester to get it very stable at 1.70 - it's just one game that i notice a difference in so I was wondering if there was anything I could change settings-wise with my current setup...

i think 29C idle and 43C max are good enough to not worry about better cooling; i've reseated the orb and tried different kinds of thermal paste to get consistent results...
