Fixing from PIO Mode to DMA Mode of DVD Burner

in the windows setting under Secondary IDE Channel in Device Manager, my dvd burner (Plextor 708a) can only be set to PIO mode. I can choose DMA if available, but it doesn't work. I have a dvd burner and a pioneer dvd-rom attached to the secondary IDE Channel. My Primary IDE Channel has 2 hard drives that work in DMA Mode. Please tell me what I can do. I am running winXP service pack 2... 512MB RAM, p2.4Ghz, and an Asus P4B533-E motherboard. Please tell me how to fix this problem.
 
Try setting the Plextor to Master. If it already is, try setting both drives to cable select. Also check your BIOS to see if it's set to PIO only for that drive. Set it to Auto.
