fixing cracked glass on an iphone

my sister dropped her phone and the outer glass is cracked now. I've heard its pretty easy to replace the glass yourself, I just dont know which kit i should buy and where to buy it from.

I read this lifehacker article a few weeks ago http://lifehacker.com/5547082/see-a-10+year+old-fix-an-iphone-screen-for-22 and it seems a decent kit can be bought for $22 from ebay. In the article they also mention http://3gcrackedglass.com/ which sells a kit for 50 bucks that is supposedly better because they dont use glue or epoxy. they say this "Our adhesive kit is the only SAFE way to install your brand new iPhone 3G glass/digitizer. Many companies use epoxy, this is messy and can ruin your home button. Others use superglue, which after time can outgas and ruin your LCD screen. Trust us, we've seen it happen!"

Im willing to spend up to $50 to fix it, i just dont know if its actually worth it to spend 50 when i see ones on ebay for like 10-20bucks.

Has anyone else replaced glass on an iphone? Can you point me to a decent kit for cheap (if its just as good as the 50 dollar kit.) Any advice will help!

Check out Craigslist, and have someone do it for her, referred a friend recently, cost her $80 and they warrantied their work...

i know i could have someone else do it (cost 80 dollars on that website i mentioned.) But id rather do it myself, even if it costs around the same amount. I've repaired a cracked LCD screen on a laptop and im sure this cant be that much harder.(no soldering involved) Plus the satisfaction knowing that I did it myself.

I just want to know what kit i should go and buy. Is the 50 dollar one that much better than the 15dollar one an ebay?

You can replace just the glass fairly easy on the 3G/3GS but the 2G, the glass and digitizer are glued together.
