Fixing a paint job

Well talk about a crappy way to start the day. Leaving my apartment this morning I accidentally brushed the back of another car. Now I get to go find out who it was when I get home. I'm pretty sure the damage is all superficial. A bit of traded paint, no dents. My S-10 just has a streak about a foot long and I think they do too. I'm hoping that this will "buff right out" but not getting my hopes up. If it comes to having to repaint part of their car what would I be looking at?
