Fixing a blown PSU

I was fiddling with a PSU while it was on and something made a loud firecracker-like noise (presumably a capacitor). Because it is a proprietary size, I'm finding it hard to find a replacement. Is it possible to repair, or not worth the hassle? When it blew, there was a system running on it, but it actually still works unharmed after moving to a new case.

If it helps at all, I built a DC power supply (probably about 15v/1A) in an electronics course before. Of course I can't remember exactly how it works but I'm ok with a soldering iron (including pin mods on old motherboards)

Badcaps is a good resource for fixing PSUs. If it is a capacitor, then you can probably fix it easily and on the cheap.

Do you have a link to it? How "proprietary" are we talking about?
