I got my 78gt popped it in my pc and turned it on. Went throught the boot sequence and everything and then when it gets ready to load windows its just a black screen. So then I decide I might as well reinstall windows. Mabey thats the problem. So I ghost my machine then get ready to load windows. It loading the drivers and everything it does before you get to the screen to to install windows. But then right when it says Setting up Windows and it locks up. So now im installing it with my old video card. Does anybody have any idea whats going on? Do I need a bios update? Is it a bad video card. I dont think its a bad video card becuae everything else works exept for windows. Please help.

One other common thing is that people think these cards take more juice, the 7800GT uses a lot less power than a 6800GT. just FYI.

Only asking this because I saw another member make the same mistake...

Did you plug in the 6-pin PCI-Express connector?

Does anybody else have any suggestions? Does anybody think its a bad videocard? Thats the only thing I can think of right now. In the bios what should the PCI Express bus be at?

The PCI Express should be left at default, or 100Mhz. I would bet it is a bad video card. But you will want to try it in another computer before you can make that certain.

Yeah :-( it sucks man... Also, you might want to check your motherboard online FAQ or BIOS updates... Many times the actual motherboard itself is the problem and a BIOS update might clear this up. I do not bother looking at peoples sigs, so sorry if I do not see the motherboard. Anyway, that is my advice. Many times they will update the BIOS and you will never know about it until you run into the problem.

Best of luck! Sorry about your potential DoA! :(

It's not a refurb, so you should probably be mad at the manufacturer of the card, not ZZF. It's not like they have any idea whether or not a card is defective.
