I am replacing a dying 1.5TB hard drive (ST31500341AS) in my file server with a new 4TB NAS drive (ST40000VN000). I've already copied all the data to it (music) and installed it in a lower bay in my case. I can access all the files on it when I am on the computer (file server) that it is located in. However, whenever I try to map the drive on my other computers on the network I get the following error:
I'm doing the same as I have done before. Right-click on the drive after installation (file server and all computers on the network on Windows 7 Ultimate x64) and choose Share with > Advanced sharing > check the box Share this folder > rename to Music and then click Apply. By default Windows just calls it by it's drive letter (in this case, H), but even leaving that at default does nothing. I've tried rebooting and changing the sata port on the controller card and on the motherboard. As I said before, it sees it on all computers, but just denies me access to the drive (as seen in the image above). I've played with the permissions and it looks like every other of my shared drives (in my file server) showing the group Everyone with read only access checked (under Allow). The file path shown above in the error message is the same as the one given on the file server. Any idea why I'm denied access to my drive on the network?
