I just finished a reformat and clean install of XP. Downloaded all the updates, no problems at all there. I just rebooted, and now I'm looking at the "To begin, click your user name" screen. On the right side, no user names are listed.

If you press F8 and boot into safe mode, does the administrator account show up?

If you hit Ctrl-Alt-Del twice it will show the classic logon box.

I didn't know that, I can get on using that neat little trick. I only have one account - admin, of course, but how do I make it log me in automatically?

I believe TweakUi has an aoto-logon feature in it. You can download it from Microsoft's website.
