I can honestly say I am out of ideas.
This is a fresh install of xp all updates and direct x 9.0a are installed.
Everything is fine before I install the unified nforce drivers both the latest 3.11 and the official drivers by shuttle.
Main sypmtom is Windows boots fast into my desktop but I am unable to open certain things (eg dial up connection,network connections,drive image) for at least 2 minutes the last program to load is my avenger program and once that is loaded everything is fine.
This is definitley a NFORCE driver problem since all I need to do is remove them and evrything is super quick at boot up.
What I have tried.
re-installed the different NFORCE drivers several times with and without sw driver---still no chaange
used nfroce reset and driver cleaner----still no change
moved my memory to disable double channel---no change
used a single stick of ram ---no change
set the ram timming manually----(relaxed) --no change
removed My other hard drive no change
used both cable select and manual master and slave options on all my drivers no change
updated to the latest bios --no change
booted in selective mode minus the startup items---- no change
booting in safe mode--cures the problem
I will not really mind but it goes thru the whole deay in functionality even going out of sleep,hibernation and even when I suspend to RAM.
As mentioned the symptoms are cured when I uninstall the NFORCE 2 unified dirvers
questions.
1. is there a way to uninstall the drivers (gart,memctrl,ide,smbus,ethernet) individually so that I can further isolate the offending driver?
2.is there a big loss in speed if I just use XP drivers?
3.any other ideas on how to trouble shoot this will be greatly appreciated.
Current system
AN35N Ultra latest bios dated 062503
Barton 2500 at default non overclocked state
2 sticks of 512 mb corsair ram 3200 cas 2 at dimm 2 and 3
WD SE 80gb main drive (master), Seagate 80 gb (slave) both currently at cable select
Optorite dvd (master, Lito on 52 x (slave) cable select also
9500 radeon soft modded to 9700, tried cat 3.7,3.8 currently at 3.9
