FIXED: no wifi but wifi, iPhone

Latest iOS for my iPhone 5. Both my router and iPhone say i am connected to my home wi-fi but the wi-fi icon is not on just the LTE icon. I've checked wi-fi assist and it's not on. Are there specific settings the router should be set to for Apple devices? I recently changed a few wi-fi settings around because Netflix was acting up and I don't know if it effected anything with my iPhone.

EDIT: stupid phone needed a reboot, nm, thanks, sorry

sounds like you need to reboot your phone.......like I mean turn it off then back on......you know as in hit the power switch......I mean, I am just saying.....its like you know....iPhone 101........

If any iDevice is connected to WiFi, and that WiFi network has no working connection out to the Internet, you won't see the WiFi symbol on the status bar. Usually that means you need to look at the router or the modem (try rebooting both of them first).
