FIXED - Network shares stopped working after installing Norton AV??? - FIXED

A friend called last night telling me that all the network sharing stopped on her office network right after she installed Norton.
It was all working perfectly before and now she can't see the shared drives on her Win 2K box from her Win ME or Win 98 boxes.
Does Norton have some kind of history of doing this kind of thing? WHat should I tell her to look for?
Thanks!

Did she install just Norton Anti-Virus or was it part of a suite like System Works? Several of Norton's suites have a Norton firewall program included. This would probably be the most likely reason for the shares no longer being accessable.

The Norton line of Virus and Firewall software has a lot of automatic settings that would intercept Network communication and will create havoc in a well tuned Network.

However they are valuable products. The way to deal with it is to install, skip the wizard and do every thing via custom setting.

A user needs to know what to do in order to avoid trouble. If a user does not know the issues and or does not have the time to invest in learning, it is better not to use these products for a Network.

Thanks guys, I drove over and took a look, turns out the passwords for the '98 & me systems disappeared somehow. Reset them & all is good again.

Edit: to clarify - the accounts were still on the Win 2K machine but either the passwords were changed, deleted or corrupted. To fix it I just "set password". I believe when it says it like that it means there was no password on the account.
Of course all the passwords were still on the 'client' machines, just not on the 'server'.
