I keep getting this error everytime I left or right click on my CD-rom drive. The details of the error report are as follows:

AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: shell32.dll
ModVer: 6.0.2900.2180 Offset: 0005e9ec

I have ran the following and have had no luck of fixing.

Spybot
Spysweeper (runs all the time)
Mcafee (runs all the time)
Trend House Call online
Adaware
Used FixIt utilities to check Registry
CWShredder

I am unabble to find any info with a Google search that will help.

After closing out the error box the system will hang until I use task manager to close Dr. Watson.

This is driving me nuts. Any help would be great.

Please post reply here or
email me here.

I have used this with no luck. i have also reinstalled Xp over the old version (repair) with no louck.

Have you tried a different cable, or different cdrom/rw?

Try putting it on a different channel.
It is interesting that it has a problem with different installations -

ARE you completely sure you have jumpered it correctly?

And that there are no bent pins in the IDE port at the back of the drive [or anything has been lodged there]

I will check the Cd-rom drive for a loose conection or bent pins. I haven't moved the computer or had the case open. It just started happening.
