Hi,

I scored 9,954 (3DM2K5) a few weeks back with a BFG 7800GTX 512MB.

I ran the same test with my ATI X1900XTX and only got 9,420

With 3DM2K6 I got 4,585

I uninstalled all the Nvidia drivers and then used NFR and Driver Cleaner Pro (now I even have to re-activate windows). Anyway, I ran both tests again and my scores were identical. My windows installation is kind of fresh. I killed many processes before running the test.
What could be wrong?

Rig below...

CoolerMaster Stacker - Asus A8N-SLI Premium - X2 4800+ - Thermaltake PurePower 680W - Zalman CNPS7000B LED - 4X512MB Kingston HyperX - ATI Radeon X1900 XTX - 4X300GB, 2X250GB Maxtor SATA 16mb, 1X320GB WD SATA 16MB - Hauppauge PVR-500MCE - WXPMCE 2005

Here is a screenshot of the ATI tool. Are those speeds correct? or is my card stock at the 2D speeds?
TIA

Maybe you have quality settings in your drivers? I get close to that with my X1800XT.

The scores dont seem that far off. Still kickass scores could just try tinkering with the drivers a little more. Is 3dmark bias to nvidia?

06 doesn't seem to be reliable at comparing ATI to NVIDA, the scores they report are seemingly unrelated to those measured in other benchmarks, based upon real games.

I wouldn't worry about 06, but i'd expect a lot more performance in 05 than that.

Check the settings etc.

OP: I'd format if I were you. I tried running driver cleaner etc. but my system wasn't fully stable and I wasn't getting the performance I wanted. After a reformat everything works great and my 3dmark05 score went up by 300 pts.

When I run 3dm2k5 the frame rates for the 3 graphics tests stay around 30-50 FPS, the CPU tests move very slow.

When running 3dm2k6, the graphics test go anywhere from 5 to 25, not higher than that.
The cpu tests are way too slow. I don't even get to see the bar at the bottom, and it sure looks like things are moving at 1 or 2 FMS

well he has tv tuner and windows xp media center so i assume he records a lot of stuff. how could his cpu be limiting the score? he has the fastest x2 chip out there.

3dmark05 is about right. ive seen 1900xtx break 10k but only barely. those who got to around 1100 or more that i saw overclocked cpu and gpu

What about this?

When I open the catalyst control center and I go under advanced mode, information center, graphics hardware, I get this:

Core Clock in MHz 500 MHz

Memory Clock in MHz 594 MHz

Is that correct?

TIA!

Yes it is, those are the clocks the card runs at when not performing 3d operations, the other number listed, REquested I think it's called, is what your card is running at in 3D apps.

I scored 5400 in 2k6 but this is with a x2 and the card @stock. It should be around 5k with single core. It seems a bit low.

I'll run 2k5 and give you some feedback m8.

Here's my X1900 XTX scores (nothing is overclocked/clean install):

3DMark06 - 5368
3DMark05 - 10625

Here's my score with my old 7800 GTX 256:

3DMark06 - 4643

Who cares about 3dmock? Run some benches on games, and if the performance falls where it should, then it's all good.

11005@3dmock2k5 with rig in sig and x1900xt@stock

From what I see from both 2k5,2k6 your scores are a little lower and I see that your cpu is not a factor(4800+). Check CCC for setttings.

It sounds like you're card is staying in 2D mode. A guy over at Hardocp was getting the same score and it looked like he was staying in 2D mode. Try overclocking the card via the overclocker tool and ATI Tool. There is a gret guide over at the Techreport I believe. Just do a google search for X1800 overclocking guide. Try putting it at the stock clocks in 2d mode and see if you score better. I get 11,500 with stock clocks on the card and my Opteron at 2.8GHz. You should be significantly higher than you are.

Thanks guys.

I might try the ATI OT and see how that goes. I've never really overclocked a GPU before so I'm a little hesitant
