FIXED: Canon S750 printer sat unused, ink dried up. How to fix?

I built a pc for someone just before Christmas of 2002. Today she asks me to get the printer working as apparently it never had. I hooked it up but it only prints the MS Windows flag on the "Print Test Page" of it's properties menu. I did many "deep cleanings" without returning to normal. I suppose I need fresh ink, but all the colors seem to show up on different attempts, but never all together. Could the jets be clogged? How do I clean this up?

Ink tends to dry up if you leave it for too long. I think the best bet is probably not to open a cartrige until you have some use for it.

I read in one of the forums about using Shout (yeah, that's the laundry stain pre-treater stuff) to clear print heads. It may have been here or on techimo.com .

Never, never use Soap on ANY cartridge.
(or Window cleaners, Alcohol, Bleach, Peroxide, Lighter fluid,
degreasers, engine cleaners, mineral spirits or laquer thinner)

The best solution is use replace the carts.
Why risk clogging the Print Head when the carts
are reasonably priced.

If you must, try running each under warm water (open end down)
and dry with a paper towel.

He needs to unclog the print head - sometimes that takes drastic measures... If the ink tanks are dried out too, of course he should replace them. I recommend http://www.tylermartin.com for cheap canon ink tanks. Buy from Tyler Martin at their eBay store as the prices are much lower (doesn't make sense to me, but there it is...). The eBay name is: tylermartin1 . Try their new USA Brand "Five Star" ink tanks.

I just ran through an inspection of the printer and there's enough ink. It seems it wasn't used for about one year. I called Canon tech support and they said it's a clogged ink jet for the color black.
They're sending me a new one, however I wish I knew how to clean the old one and deliver it back today.

My old BJC-4000 did this a while back; I hadn't used it in three years and it was dry as a bone. Gently wetted the end of the cartridge, and forced a whole refill kit of ink through the cart, and it finally sprang back into life.

But yeah, Canon printheads are a PITA to unclog, as opposed to the cartridges. If you could get it out, you could try some unclogging fluid; it's sold specifically for this purpose.

Most PrintHead cleaning solutions sold Retail consist
of either Distilled Water & Glycerin or Isoparaffinic Petroleum (slightly volitale).

Distilled water and a syringe flushing works wonders. The purer the water, the better.
If it a problem still persists, an overnite (24hr) soaking usually does the trick.

reason thru ebay cheaper is to keep his ebay power seller status up 😉
