So, for whatever reason, I did not select to have Windows check for other updates when I did my last Windows 7 install a couple months ago (this is the computer in my sig).

I installed Office 2013 a couple days ago, and noticed that I received Windows updates earlier today, but no Office updates. When I go to Change settings under Windows Update, I do not have the "Give me updates for other Microsoft products when I update Windows" option. When I click the "find out more" link, it just takes my to a web page showing the Windows Update button in the start menu.

My Google skills must be failing tonight, as I can't seem to get around this one. Microsoft has a FixIt on the Windows update problems page, but it doesn't do anything, and the rest of the page does not refer to my issue.

Any ideas welcome.

Thanks.

Edit: Fixed, Uninstalled IE 11.

My Office 2013 doesn't update through Windows update, it updates by going to File/Account/Office Update in any of the programs. I usually do mine through Excel.

Interesting, Thank you GrumpyMan. I just checked and there weren't any updates (maybe because it's office 365). Has Microsoft finally learned how to offer up-to-date downloads?

When I checked last night mine applied some updates, go figure, so apparently not. They just want to move everybody to their "Cloud" and get everyone to pay a monthly fee to use their products and keep them updated, that may back fire however.

The new office just doesn't use WU anymore - it has its own mechanism...which often causes trouble anyway.

Interesting. This is my first install of Office 2013 on a home machine. At the office, the updates are deployed through Windows update.

There might be one MSI install left for 2013 - and everything below 2013 will still be WU/MU - but the default path of 2013 is click to run (with the whole streaming install) - WU can't update that one.

Just got 11 updates Office 2013 today via Windows Update on the work laptop. All are listed as published yesterday. One example: KB2889862

This article describes update KB2889862 for Microsoft Office 2013 that was released on September 9, 2014. This update also applies to Office Home and Student 2013 RT.

This update includes stability and performance improvements. Please be aware that this update does not apply to Microsoft Office 365 editions such as Office 365 Home.

That is interesting because I got several 2013 updates via Windows update yesterday.

That tool probably just deletes the datastore.

It's a simple enough thing: if you installed it from the office365 site, you won't get updates through MU. Check by going to file -> Account -? look for "Office Updates" on the right side. It should say "Updates are automatically downloaded and installed". http://support.microsoft.com/gp/office-2013-click-to-run

If you don't see that there, then you SHOULD be seeing updates through WU; if you know that you're missing updates (if you know that your install is no longer up to date, or that you did a fresh install that was not up to date as opposed to installing an up to date version) then WU is missing updates for you.

The preferred path seems to be office updating itself now. There are still ways to install and get updates through WU/MU...but there's also the click to run path.

Finally found out the problem, IE11!

Uninstalled IE11 and the update link now takes me to the correct page, where it upgrades me to Microsoft Update.

Office updates show up correctly now.
