My sister took pictures of her kids with their digital camera, and never could figure out how to view them. Over Christmas I set them up, and put the free version of ACDSee on their PC. I just got an angry email from her about how she can?t see any pictures on her PC and it wants her to buy something. I have had a fully paid for version of ACDSee on my PC for years and years now, so I have no idea what anyone else uses to view pictures because that is really the only way I have used for so long. Is there something built into windows or free software I can tell her to get?

Tell her to shove the mouse.... nevermind :)

Don't bother. my friend begsme to work on his dell PII 400 and he wants me to at least put in a 56k modem (he has 28.8k) but it's not worth it.

2. Set Windows XP to automatically download images to My Documents/My Pictures
3. Hook up camera to pc.

Why didn't you just install the software that came on the CD with the camera? Probably a light version of some well-known software. That way, you could just tell her to call the support line for the digital camera if she's having issues.

Tell her you found some "interesting" pictures on her computer and leave it at that. :p

I installed some Windows Updates, and SP2 on my uncles computer. Internet was working fun. Uncle calls me up and blames me for his internet not working. Turns out he had many viruses, in just one day. Not sure what his kids are doing to his comp, but I was blamed for it.

Irfanview - I have ACDSee, too, but I still use Irfanview for some things, and I install it on every computer I set up for people. I was just using it earlier for, oddly enough, browsing through hundreds of sound effects files because I couldn't figure out anything better at the time.

The default window's thing is pretty easy to choose. Now i just drag and drop the pictures straight from the camera

agreed....I never hear the end of it when something goes wrong
with family member's PC's I've built.

The last one was a lightning strike which fried the Mobo.
I asked about surge protection, they said they had a great surge protector and that
there was NO way the lightning strike could have gone through....

I went to look at it, duh....they had one of those powerstrip type surge protecters
Hooked them up right away with an APC- unit.

it never ends.....don't do it!
