Fix CD ROM Tray? Your help Appreciated!

Up front, I'm into trying to fix things before throwing them out. Know this is a cheap item, but like to it fix if I can.

In taking the front off my case I somehow snagged the CD ROM tray, and long story short, ended up with the tray in my hand, completely out. Have disassembled top of drive, and nothing appears broken. Need to figure out how to match the big wheel with the gears on the tray. Have tried to jockey gently, not forcing w/no luck. This includes hooking power to drive with the top exposed and observing top gear when engaging power.

Any help or reference to CD ROM repair appreciated!

I did go in Google, and obviously didn't get the magic answer.

Any chance you'd share?

you can do it. just need to remove the cover , then you can see how everything acts together. the trick is getting all the parts in sinc and orientated. i've done it a few times , so i know anybody can.
