Fix an .asf file so I can fast forward

I have an .asf movie that must not of been comletely downloaded. Can anyone suggest what I can use to fix the file so that I can download. I really hate having to wait 40 minutes to see one part and not being about to rewind and see it again unless I wait another forty minutes

use the old version of media player (6.x). It 'fixes' the problem (untill you hit the end of the file at which point media player brings down your whole system.
