Fix AC now, or wait until spring?

My car AC has been non-working for a while now - there's a post from last summer about it somewhere. I recently found a shop I trust, and I have the $ - it'll be expensive.

The question is, do I fix it now - since I can - or do I wait until spring so that the warranty on the work will cover the actual time I'll be using the AC most?

Thanks.

Depends on what is wrong with it. If it has a major leak (hose, fitting, hole in condensor), then the internal components will exposed to the atmosphere (moisture inside the system is bad), and over time more components could go bad. The longer you wait the more you will have to replace.

If you want to defog your windows properly, you'll need the A/C working.

I would wait at least a month of so. A lot charge more when it is hot and some cut a little down after the rush is over.

Is this about the old Cherokee? If it is an R12 system, you should convert it over to R134 when you have the ac fixed. Then if it gets low in the future, you can just had a can by yourself instead of taking it to someone to get R12.
