Don't forget you can also get books a la carte instead of just the MCSE books. I got The XML Bible, an Oracle PL/SQL Tips & Tricks Book, Photoshop 5 for the Web, and the Win2k Bible for just over 20 bucks (shipping, tax, and whatever they charge you per book...99 cents I think). I'm going to see just how hard it is to get out of once I buy my one and only book...wish they had a good PHP book. :(

Did this deal myself last week, still waiting for the books. Suppose to come out to about $20 with shipping.

These books are great for someone who knows NT 4.0, but wants/needs to take the microsoft 2000 MCSE tests. If you don't have alot of experience with NT & networks then you'll probably be a bit lost with them.

You only need to buy 1 more book, and they are as cheap as $15. Also you can save money on stamps by using the web site. When you get the monthly mailing, and don't want the book, instead of mailing back the card you can do it online.

why's it so hard to get out of...can't you just call them up after you order your one book and say i want to cancel?

also what is the deal with these mailings. Do they just send you books without telling you and then you have to send them back if you don't want to get charged? Is that the deal?

thanks

Davegod75: When I got my books, they sent me a card with the "month's selection" on it. You simply check off whether you want it or not. As someone mentioned, you can do it on their website, too to save a stamp, but I haven't checked that out yet. I'd imagine they send you a card & pamphlet with their available books, like Columbia House.

I'd assume the difficulty in cancelling is similar to that of Columbia House and other Music/Video/Book/Etc clubs. You tell them you want to cancel, but they don't listen. That's happened to me with CH, and when I receive my monthly selection, I just write "RETURN TO SENDER--ACCOUNT SHOULD BE CANCELLED" in big letters on the package. Sometimes it takes a few months and shipments, but eventually they get the point. :disgust:

The mailings I have gotten were not the ones that the members get.... They spam mail potential customers with the deals like this thread.

Its not hard to get out. I done it a couple of times.

Order books from them for $9.99 plus shipping, than bought one more book for about $9.99, than cancel memberships all in about 1-2 months.

They even have a phone number to call.

This is a hot deal if you ask me.

I got these books, it's seven books in all. They are nice books for anyone starting out. I have joined this club, signed my wife up, and both of us for another of their clubs. Once you buy one more book, then you can call them and have your account changed to order only. Shipping is a little slow, but if you know much about technical books then it's a sweet deal. They don't offer WROX, Oreilly, and a very limited MS Press books. I have been a member for a over a year now. They have great customer service. I called to ask for a return airbill for books that I didn't order and they sent it with no hassle. Every book, cd, or dvd club will send you something youi didn't order at least once. It is a great deal if you can afford it. It averages about $3 to $5 dollars for S & H. Good luck.
