So is the author correct? I agree on the last part, about US is still making hi tech/expensive stuffs such as aircrafts but not sure about the rest, especially the growing public debts and deficits. Also, the author did not address if we (Americans) have the guts to do the right things (but very painful) for long term well being.

I guess sort of. But he's pretty lazy at only dispelling 5 myths. Seems the internet idea of reporting nowadays is make sure your story takes no more than 2 minutes to read, or nobody will read it.

Yeah I've been one of the few saying it, and I'll say it again:

Eventually the National Pity Party that so many are wallowing in will run its course and people will get back to reality.

There's something deeply appealing to many to imagine themselves the most downtrodden and picked on pitiful people the world has ever seen, when even from the lowest rungs of first world society they tower at dizzying heights above most of the world, and a universe removed from 95% of human history.

"Ohhhhhhhh poor pitiful us! There's some rich guy who has more toys! (Surely a condition never encountered before!) What an injustice!!

Someone dared not give us our birthright, didn't roll out the red carpet and beg us to take a corner office where we can kick our talentless feet up on the desk and daydream all day before dashing off to cash that six figure paycheck. Ohhhhhhhh the indignity of it all! Let's fire off an angry Tweets on one of our six or seven 24/7 high speed Internet-connected devices and let the whole world know of our plight! People the world over need to know how bad we have it, and take pity on us! Will the world's masses choose to tearfully read of our terrible condition on their iPhones or on one of their several laptops or perhaps on one of their two or three desktop computers they keep in their huts? While we ponder, let's throw on our designer jackets, hop in the car and tool on down to the mall for lunch (past row after row of gleaming towers that surely sit empty, not full of daydreamers with their talentless feet kicked up on the desk collecting 6 figures. No, *sniffle* everyone who works only does so at McDonald's and Walmart now!"

So anyway, hope people enjoy the National Pity Party while it lasts. I say hats off, because record numbers of people have manged to take a breather and get caught up in it, and a pity party ain't a hit without plenty of company.

But like all appealing things that are more fun than they are actually good for jack shit, it'll eventually b.ow over and most first worlders will have to get back to Realityville again. It's probably been a lot of fun pretending that "Not getting Bill Gates' bank balanced handed to you on a silver platter and thanked graciously for bring the most excellent first-worlder ever to grace this planet= pitiful impoverished peasant Ohhhhhhhh you poor dear..." but it was all just a fucking dream. The real third world hasn't texted you back their condolences on your terrible plight because most are too busy striving to REPLACE your worthless as on the world stage. And many of them will too. And more... many deserve it more than you do.

That's all from the real world. Back to the pity party!

Best comment that sums up this feel good propaganda bs.

"America is a manufacturing power if you include everything that's made overseas."

I understand I'm a superb cook if you include all the frozen dinners I buy. If you count the Pizza I take out, I'm also Italian

#2 isn't that compelling a response; in fact he ignores the question and posts different information. I think if you look at employment levels from 2010-2030 you will see them at lower levels (16 years from now) than what they were between 1990-2010.
