News Five more years of official AM4 support

It seems this news flew under the radar at many places since the focus is on embedded. On April 20th AMD announced Ryzen Embedded 5000 series:

Like all embedded products it has an extended manufacturing availability, in this case 5 years from now. Unlike previous embedded series this one is socketed, and it uses the existing AM4 as the socket. Even the use of a X570 chipset is suggested to extend the amount of PCIe lanes from 24 to 36. So even while mainstream consumer usage of AM4 may fade away, technical availability seems well secured for years to come.

Yes, I think it will have technical support/availability until 2027-2028. At least that's what I read in a article by ComputerBase.

Well, some mainstream consumers will be on AM4 for a while. I’ll probably grab a 5800X3D or 5900X this year and stay on this platform for several years. I’ll have plenty of compute power and will only need to upgrade my GPU for newer games. I think allot of people are like me (well, not so much on this forum ).

Oh no doubt about that. We all also have our share of old timer boards etc. Point is that AM4 will remain available to buy in some form, not only working for those who already got it by now.
