It's not news that teachers aren't highly paid, but if you're an instructor in South Dakota, you're among the lowest-paid in the nation

No wonder my education was a horrible experience.

my aunt is a geologist and has worked for the same company for probably 30 years now.

she's lived in indonesia, columbia, texas, california...worked for a few months in saudi, russia, norway
but w/ increased technology in remote sensing, this kind of travel might not be as common.

Teaching? Bleh!

I do wonder what the different programs offer though. I know Japan has that JET program.

It's a guaranteed way to "vacation" in the Middle East, anyway :)

I'll say this, though... "IT Guy" is a poor job choice if you want to travel! I might have servers in India and China that I administer, but I doubt that I'll ever see them in person. Hell... I have trouble even getting approval for travel costs to NYC just 60 miles away!

I guess I'm the rare exception.

Well, I mainly do sys admin stuff and some coding in research vessels.

Places I've been due to work:

Japan, Taiwan, Philipines, Hawaii.

Places I'll be headed to later next year:

Dutch Harbor, New Zealand, Australia, Tahiti, and more of Japan, Taiwan, Philipines...

Places we go to:
Every country listed above and more:

Antarctica, South Africa, Various Islands in the Pacific, India, Thailand, etc etc...
Essentially anything that touches the Pacific and Indian Oceans. Sometimes we go to the Atlantic. Coworkers have been to Iceland, and various north-west european countries.
